2. When and how we contact people

In short: We contact people at work, only when our services could be relevant to their role, and we stop as soon as they ask.

We get in touch with people at companies whose roles connect to the work we do, such as category management, sales, marketing, insights and revenue management. We write to their work email address. Now and then we may also call a business phone number or post a letter to a business address.

We do this only when we have reason to think our work could matter to that person's company. When someone asks us to stop, we stop.

In short: Business contact details, company facts, public business activity, address checks, our correspondence and basic site logs; nothing sensitive.

Depending on the situation, we may hold:

• business contact details where available: name, job title, employer, work email address, business phone number and a link to a professional profile;

• public business activity, such as job postings, news coverage and public posts;
• the results of checks on whether a work email address can receive mail;
• the messages we exchange with a person and our notes of any conversation;
• visits to this site. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, and the font service that supplies the site's typeface receives each visitor's IP address when the page loads.

We do not collect sensitive information, such as health, financial account, government identification or similar details.

4. Where the information comes from

In short: Public sources, commercial business-data providers, and people themselves when they get in touch.

We gather information from public sources, including company websites, job boards, news outlets and professional networking profiles. We also obtain business contact and company data from commercial providers of business information.

Finally, people give us information directly when they reply to us, complete a form or talk with us.

5. How we use it

In short: To decide whether to get in touch, to contact people at work, to respond and to honor requests to stop.

We use this information to:

• judge whether our services are likely to be relevant to a person and their company;
• contact the person at work;
• check that a work email address is valid before we write to it;
• answer replies and, where the person asks, discuss or provide our services;
• maintain our do-not-contact list;

We do not use tracking pixels or similar methods in our business emails to learn whether a message has been opened.

6. Asking us to stop

In short: Reply to any of our emails in any words, or tell the person who calls; we stop within 10 business days at the latest.

To stop hearing from us, reply to any email we have sent, using whatever words you like, or tell the person who phones you. No particular form or wording is needed.

We act on the request promptly, and always within 10 business days. We then keep your name and address on a do-not-contact list, so that you are not contacted again by us, whichever source your details might later come from.

7. Who we share it with

In short: We never sell or rent it; only providers working for us, authorities where required, and a successor business see it.

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share it with other companies for their own marketing, or for advertising aimed at you based on your activity.

We share it only with:

• service providers acting on our behalf, such as email and mailbox services, address verification services, business-data providers, and hosting and storage providers, who may use it only to provide those services to us;
• public authorities, when the law requires it, or where needed to protect rights, property or safety;
• a buyer of, or successor to, our business, who must honor this statement.

8. How long we keep it

In short: For as long as it is useful and required, while do-not-contact entries stay for as long as we contact businesses.

We keep prospect information while it remains useful and remove records that have gone out of date. Records about clients are kept for as long as the work and our legal and accounting duties require.

Entries on our do-not-contact list are kept for as long as we contact businesses, because that is what keeps the request honored.

9. Security

In short: We limit access and use reasonable safeguards, but no system is perfectly secure.

Access to personal information is limited to the people and providers who need it, and we apply reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

10. Your choices and rights

In short: You can ask what we hold, where it came from, and have it corrected or deleted, and you will be treated no differently for asking.

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you and where we obtained it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. If you ask for deletion, we keep only the do-not-contact entry needed to make sure you are not contacted again.

Depending on the state you live in, the law may give you further rights, such as the right to know, to correct, to delete, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information.
